Distraction-Free Player & Notes

Immerse yourself in focused video playback with auto-resume, timestamped markdown note-taking, pinned note highlights, and note exporting.

Distraction-Free Video Stage#

Mudawim's video stage isolates the YouTube embed from algorithmic sidebars, recommendations, and distracting comments.

Player Features:#

  • Auto-Resuming: Automatically resumes exactly where you left off during your last session.
  • Smart Playback Speed Controls: Continuous speed fine-tuning from 0.25x to 2.0x with 8 quick preset buttons.
  • Per-Course Speed Memory: Changing the playback speed inside a course saves that preference specifically for that course. Fast-paced lecturers stay at 1.0x while slow-paced speakers stay at 1.5x.
  • Completion Safeguards: When a video finishes, a clean completion banner appears with Replay and Next Lesson triggers, preventing unintended YouTube loops.
  • Theater & Fullscreen Mode: Maximize the video canvas while keeping the note-taking dock accessible.

Smart Playback Speed & Per-Course Memory#

Fine-tune your video velocity to match your comprehension:

  • Global Default Speed: Set a baseline speed (e.g., 1.25x) in Settings > Appearance & Speed.
  • Course-Level Overrides: Adjust speed directly in the player popover; Mudawim remembers your preferred speed for each individual playlist.

Completion Safeguards & Next Lesson Prompts#

When a video reaches the end:

  • A prominent celebration screen confirms completion.
  • One-click buttons let you Replay Lesson or Start Next Lesson immediately.
  • Keyboard navigation: Press `Shift + →` to advance or `Shift + ←` to return.

Timestamped Markdown Notes#

Taking notes without time context makes reviewing technical tutorials frustrating. In Mudawim, every note can be anchored to the exact second in the video:

  1. Click the Timestamp Note button or press keyboard hotkey `N`.
  2. A new note card is created with the current playback time pre-filled (e.g. [14:32]).
  3. Write your summary using standard Markdown (code blocks, bullet lists, bold text, quotes).
  4. Whenever you click on the timestamp badge in the future, the video instantly seeks to that exact second!

Tagging & Pinning Critical Notes#

  • Pinning: Click the Pin icon to pin essential formulas, cheat sheets, or key code snippets to the top of your course notes.
  • Color Tags: Categorize notes with tags like Bug Fix, Key Concept, Exam Review, or Code Snippet.

Access the dedicated Notes Hub from the sidebar to:

  • Search across all notes across all workspaces simultaneously.
  • Filter notes by workspace, playlist, pinned status, or tag.
  • Click any note to jump straight into the corresponding video lesson at the saved timestamp.

Exporting Notes as Markdown#

Download your notes anytime as clean, formatted Markdown files (.md) ready for Obsidian, Notion, or GitHub documentation.
